Abstract

Common Bacterial Blight (CBB) of bean caused by Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. phaseoli is a seriously important disease that adversely affects the quantity and quality of seed. Cultivation of resistant cultivars is the most effective method of  the disease control. To identify disease resistant genotypes of selected beans, an experiment was conducted in  Agriculture and Natural Resources Research Center of  Markazi province. A number of 10 genotypes were identified as resistant and semi resistant to CBB. Line 31118 was found out as the most resistant. Four of the 10 Lines namely 21400, 21320, 21407, and CIAT check 2 were either resistant or semi resistant to CBB with yields higher than average in either infected or noninfected by CBB. They were introduced as the top genotypes.
