Pollinators play critical roles in plant biodiversity and agricultural production and making a substantial contribution to global food security. A considerable proportion of the crops and horticultural plants in the world depends on insect- pollination, which estimated to have an annual global economic value of more than USD 500 billion. Nowadays, climate change, habitat loss, and pesticide affected the abundance, diversity, and distribution of pollinators and highlight the importance of conservation. Monitoring pollinators is challenging because it is time-consuming, costly, and requires taxonomic expertise. Emerging technologies are helping to overcome some of these limitations by increasing the speed and spatial scale of monitoring. The aim of the present study is analytically reviewing the potential, limitations, and applications of emerging technologies in the monitoring, habitat assessment, and conservation of pollinators. According to related studies, emerging technologies—including acoustic monitoring, intelligent cameras, mm-wave radar, molecular methods, and remote sensing—were examined. The results of previous studies indicate that these technologies can increase the speed and spatial scale of monitoring for conservation of pollinators and help detection of population fluctuation, habitat quality, and the prioritization of conservation actions. However, the effectiveness depends on the availability of taxonomic and genetic reference databases, field- investigations, and adaptation to local conditions; therefore, they could not completely replace taxonomic expertise or ecological studies. However, integrating intelligent monitoring, habitat restoration and pesticide-risk management can provide a foundation for the conservation of pollinators and the long-term sustainability of pollination services.
