Red palm weevil Rhynchophorus ferrugineus is one of the most important pests of different palms. In this study, the efficacy of the new insecticide, emamectin benzoate (Revive II, ME 9.5%), on the prevention of the infestation caused by RPW, as well as its residue in date palm fruit and core, were evaluated. Trials were implemented in Sisan and Baluchestan and Fars provinces. Revive ΙΙ was injected in four sides of the trunk Treatments included the injection of 25 and 50 ml of Revive ΙΙ per tree. A separated plot of date palms without any insecticide injection was considered as control, as well as date palms without injection in the treatment plot and alternately with treated date palms. The results showed that the infestation was zero in the treated plots, while in the 4 control plots, the average of infested date palms in Fars province were 0.68, 0.68, 0.84, and 0.52, and in Sistan and Baluchestan province were 0.12, 0.76, 0.24, and 0.08. Also, residues of the emamectin benzoate at concentration of 25 and 50 ml were present in the vascular tissue and date fruit at the permitted level six months after injection, but one year later, there were no insecticide residues. It was found that one single injection will be effective in protecting from the red palm weevil. It is recommended to inject the emamectin benzoate (Revive ΙΙ, ME 9.5%) at concentration of 25 ml in autumn after harvesting date until six months before harvest time
